‘Skins’ Drama! Taco Bell Pulls Ads on Racy Show

After ratings soared for the premiere of MTV’s new show, Skins, it looks as if not everyone is thrilled about the program’s performance, especially Taco Bell. According to a rep for the chain, they’ve pulled their advertising from the show. “We’ve decided that the show is not a fit for our brand and have moved our advertising to other MTV programming,” the rep told The Hollywood Reporter.

With intense buzz and controversy as to whether the American version of the hit UK show is the right fit for TV, MTV has fired back against allegations the show is too racy for young viewers and the young actors who shoot the raw, real footage. MTV told THR, “Skins is a show that addresses real-world issues confronting teens in a frank way. We review all of our shows and work with all of our producers on an ongoing basis to ensure our shows comply with laws and community standards. We are confident that the episodes of ‘Skins’ will not only comply with all applicable legal requirements, but also with our responsibilities to our viewers.”
