Willow Smith to Star in “Annie” Reboot?

Celebuzz’s Breakout Star of 2010, Willow Smith, may be hair-whipping her way into a starring role on the big screen.

Willow’s father and king of the blockbuster, Will Smith, is reportedly considering helming the remake of the popular 1982 musical Annie, according to Variety. The musical was previously remade for television in 1999.

Will Smith has partnered with Sony to develop the project, but additional details about the film are being kept under wraps. Sources confirm that hip-hop impresario Jay-Z, who worked with Willow on ‘Whip My Hair,’ is being tapped to create the music for the film. However, whether or not the reboot will feature new or original songs has yet to be announced. Jay is quite familiar with Annie, thanks to his brilliant sample used in his song ‘Hard Knock Life.’

The 10-year-old songbird has mastered music, but it remains to be seen whether or not she inherited the acting chops of her famous family.
