Charlie Sheen Treated for Hernia After 'Housewives' 911 Call
UPDATE: According to TMZ, Charlie Sheen was rushed to the hospital for a hiatal hernia in his stomach. The hernia can cause acids from foods to build up in the esophagus and can cause extreme pain. TMZ reports that Charlie has had the hiatal hernia for years.
Charlie's friends called 911 on Thursday morning at the urging of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars Dr. Paul Nassif and wife Adrienne Maloof-Nassif. The couple told People that Charlie's friends contacted them for medical advice when the actor started to feel pain.
"We did receive a call from Charlie's house this morning, asking for medical assistance and advice," the couple said in a statement. "[We] immediately insisted the caller dial 911. Dr. Nassif also immediately called 911. As longtime friends, we are obviously very concerned about his well-being. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family right now and we wish him a speedy recovery."
The Maloof-Nassifs live in the same neighborhood as Charlie.
Charlie Sheen's wild winter took a turn for the worse on Thursday, as TMZ is reporting that the actor was rushed to the hospital. While there isn't much information in the initial report on why Sheen was taken out of his Los Angeles home on a stretcher, Sheen's rep tells Celebuzz exclusively: "He was having severe abdominal pains and went to the hospital."
Sheen was hospitalized back in October for what his reps called an "allergic reaction" to his medication. Recently, various reports have linked Sheen to long weekends of binge drinking and partying. That came just days after his wild weekend in New York City with porn star Capri Anderson that led to his arrest.
