Selena Gomez: Demi Lovato Is ‘My Best Friend’
Think all Disney starlets are feuding? Not true says Selena Gomez who calls both Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato “friends” in a recent Spanish interview for El Paradiario.
“Many people believe that there is some rivalry between us, whether because of our ages, our music or the programs that we do, etc. but there is no rivalry,” said Selena in the interview (translated by OceanUp). “Demi and I have been friends since we were 6-years-old from when we first met while working on the TV show Barney. She is my best friend.”
“Like with Miley, we respect our careers and our friendship and there is much admiration – mutual admiration – that makes us keep our friendship,” continued Selena.
Rumors of feuding with both Demi and Miley have plagued Selena since the beginning of her career. Demi and Selena were once mocked by Miley and her best friend Mandy Jiroux in a vlog in 2008. However, both parties have said that the vlog was all in fun and that the two parties remain friends.

Selena and Demi’s friendship has had its ups and downs in recent years. The former BFFs had a falling out in 2009 although the two have said that they are still friends. Selena was recently targeted by a prankster who released a false press release on Selena’s behalf saying that the Wizards of Waverly Place star felt bad about Demi’s recent stint in rehab and that Selena had acted like “a bad friend.”
In the same interview, Selena tip-toes around the Justin Bieber question. The 18-year-old starlet calls Justin a “lovely guy” and a “very good friend.” Meanwhile, Selena calls former beau Taylor Lautner “one of the most beautiful people I have met.” Uh oh, should Justin be worried?
