Lauren Conrad Angry Over Abandoned Reality Series

Lauren Conrad upset of reality series cancellation

Lauren Conrad is upset, and she's not going to suffer silently.

The former Hills star has lashed out at MTV after the channel decided to abandon plans for a new reality show starring Conrad. And now Conrad has issued an angry statement to Us Magazine, slamming MTV for trying to inject more of her "personal relationships" into a series that was intended to chronicle her professional exploits.

Conrad's statement reads,

"We sold a show to MTV, filmed it and are really proud of the final result. MTV felt the subject matter was too high brow for their audience and offered me the opportunity to change the show by incorporating more of my personal life. We agreed going into the project that this show would be an aspirational one, focusing on my career and my goals and not my personal relationships. We delivered the show that we sold and are sorry MTV didn't feel their viewers were savvy enough to appreciate it."
MTV viewers, insufficiently savvy? Them's might be fightin' words, Ms. Conrad...

Are you disappointed that Lauren's planned new reality series won't air? Let us know in the comments section.

MTV leeches shows off of poor girls who are struggling through Teenage Pregnancy, miserable, Obese young adults, and vulgar and rude partying alcoholics. Half of the "stars" off the shows they air either don't care about their future or are just plain are fooled with stars in their eyes. I would have been interested in this show. I wish MTV would go back to their roots- MUSIC TELEVISION. Lauren, go somewhere else that actually appreciates anything worthwhile or good. :-] Our generation still has hope- give us a chance, MTV! Play something that will actually nourish our fragile, delicate minds instead of make us lose brain cells. I used to watch Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant but since then I've discovered that Spongebob is better than that crap.

Yeah, and you do. She has made an empire for herself in fashion, literature, and reality tv, and according to you, has nothing to offer. Good one?

You. Are. An. Idiot. She, in no way, is arrogant. She truly believed in her show that would introduce viewers to her professional life. If anything, she is the complete opposite of arrogant for not conforming to what MTV wanted, which is more of her personal life. Also, she's worked for many professionals who wouldn't accept an airhead working for them. Teen Vogue, Kelly Cutrone, and others not seen in her shows would NEVER accept someone who would detract from their performance. Lastly, you're condoning MTV's choices of "worthwhile" tv shows. Need I say more?

MTV is a piece of crap. Lauren Conrad is a classy beautiful women with an amazing job. It just goes to show you guys that the producers are crap as well, only wanted what they think will sell. so pathetic. Oh and I would say all of this to their faces. :)

What makes this even more disappointing is VH1 will be airing a reality show following Audrina and her redneck family.

it would be nice to see shows that focus on people being successful instead of interventions, teen aged pregnancy and obesity. But you are talking about MTV ---> MUSIC television...I mean they are so far departed from their namesake that it doesn't surprise me that they just go for what sells instead of pushing boundaries as they once did. I really liked their "VICE guide to everything" but I suppose that deemed to intelligent as well.

Who cares. If she wanted to remain a reality star, then she should have remained on her hit show.

We need lot more information - clearly this is big deal that they made the show and now MTV is backing out. LC made MTV what it is today, but they unfortunately want to cater only to the teenage crowd. I hope this show finds a home. LC is easy to like - understated but ambitious, extraordinarily beautiful but not splashed all over the internet in faux bikini shoots. She'll beback.

Bizarre move by MTV. Their execs fail to realize that the people who grew up watching MTV and LC over the last ten years are getting older and would still like to see her in something. Same thing with American Idol - the longer the show has been around, the higher the average age of the viewer. Hopefully Vh1 will pick up the dhow.

Well thats annoying!! I love LC, and kudos to her for not wanting her personal life exposed on national TV. Will miss the show!

MTV is predatory in exploiting these young minds by dumbing them down and stripping them of their self-respect in exchange for 15 minutes of fame. I think MTV should be personally responsible for the damage they are causing to these kids. The rational decision making part of their young minds are not fully developed and they have no idea that the choices they make in their lives now can have a disastrous impact on their future. Of course MTV is passing on Lauren Conrads reality show. It is unfathomable to them to showcase a young woman making good balanced choices in her life resulting in a happy successful outcome. Look at the train-wrecks they left in their wake from their previous drama filled reality programming trash. Lauren Conrad should take her show to more reputable network.

Yes - since MTV itself has so much to offer that is worthwhile.

Hate MTV. MTV probably felt like nobody would watch a show that was about somebody working from the ground up on a business. It's unfortunate since I was actually looking forward to this. I also really loved The City and was sad to hear that they cancelled it. Bottom line: To get a show on MTV you need to be 16 and expecting a child or let the network meddle in your person relationships with other people. I'm glad she wouldn't let them change anything about the show.

They also canceled The City which I thought was fun and a positive show for girls who want to see what it's like to navigate a career. It seems MTV just wants to keep American Youth on to a path of apathy and self-destruction. With shows like Jersey Shore and now child porn, Skins, MTV is just super lame. It just shows that American entertainment is created by and for dumb kids who think life is just about getting wasted and getting laid. Well, I don't know how cute that'll be without a career.

Not surprising... the execs at mtv are a bunch of insecure, pinheads. Like most folks in tv, they're better at keeping their jobs than actually doing them.

Conrad is just another arrogant, preening, self-entitled airhead with nothing -- NOTHING -- worthwhile to offer. MTV chose wisely.
