Miley Cyrus Talks Parents' Split, Personal Mistakes in 'Marie Claire'
It might be true that Miley Cyrus can't be tamed, but she sure does clean up well when she wants to.
The 18-year-old former Hannah Montana star graces the March 2011 cover of Marie Claire, rocking lightened locks and a lot of skin in a back-baring dress. The spirit of sharing and openness carries on to the accompanying interview, in which Cyrus holds court on, among other topics, her personal mistakes and the recent breakup of her parents, Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus.
According to Cyrus, who shocked many of her fans late last year when footage of her smoking the legal hallucinogen salvia surfaced on the Internet, she might not be squeaky-clean, but she never claimed to be anyway:
"What I never wanted was for my fans to ever feel like I betrayed them... to feel like I said I was something, then turned around and was something that I'm not. But I've never, ever claimed to be perfect. I mean, since I've started the show, I've always said, 'I'm gonna make mistakes.' I know this. And I think that that is one of the reasons why people related to me. Why kids related to me."As for her parents' break-up, Cyrus holds out hope that her family can retain their strong ties, despite the divorce:
"Of course anyone is going to be upset when there are troubles in their family, but I have a lot of hope in our family, and no matter what happens, we're gonna stay strong...I just want my mom to be happy and my dad to be happy and, most of all, my little sister to be happy."Miley might have just entered legal adulthood, but it seems like she's been quick to adapt a mature outlook on life.
