Miley Cyrus Wins Global Action Youth Leadership Award (VIDEO)
Miley Cyrus proved that she can be a good role model for kids when she won the Global Action Youth Leadership Award at the 1st Annual Global Action Awards Gala in Beverly Hills on Friday.
Miley, 18, was presented with the award by another former Disney star – Hilary Duff – who the "Can't Be Tamed" singer credits with inspiring her career.
Miley was honored for her charity work with Blessings in a Backpack and Get Ur Good On, the latter being a charity campaign that Miley started to urge young people to get involved in volunteer work.
"I created Get Ur Good On with Youth Services America because I wanted kids to understand what it feels like to see these smiles and to know that they make a difference," Miley told the crowd during her acceptance speech. "It doesn't matter how young they are or what their dream is...as long as they have passion that's what's important."

Miley has long been involved with philanthropy and Youth Services America, the young entertainer even celebrated her 16th birthday with a charity fundraiser for the organization at Disneyland.
The former Hannah Montana star came under fire recently after a video surfaced of the young star smoking salvia – a legal herbal hallucinogen – out of a bong. Cyrus later called the video "bad" because she should try to act like a role model for young kids.
Miley was recently publicly criticized by her father, Billy Ray Cyrus in an interview with GQ magazine. Billy Ray said he was "scared" for his daughter's well-being and hinted that she was hanging out with a bad element in Hollywood. Miley was reportedly "furious" over Billy Ray's comments.
