‘American Idol’ Gives One Contestant the Boot, Sends Another to Hospital
Spoiler Alert: Last night was the first of many dramatic elimination nights on American Idol, where one contestant was sent home -- another to the hospital!
At the top of the show, early fan favorite Casey Abrams was notably absent from the group. It was revealed that he was sick and had been sent to the hospital. However, it was not made clear how serious his condition was. People reports that the singer received two blood transfusions to treat a condition called ulcerative colitis, which causes severe abdominal pain and cramping.
After being treated, the 20-year-old tweeted about his condition:
"Hey guys, thanks for the well wishes, I got some nice fresh blood in me and feeling better. People at Idol & Cedars are treating me real good."Unfortunately, not everyone in the competition had such high spirits as one hopeful was sent home. The guys avoided the bottom three while Karen Rodriguez, Ashthon Jones and Haley Reinhart were up for elimination. Ashton, who was one of the judge's wild card picks, was sent packing.
