Celebuzz Chats with the Hilarious Cast of 'Paul' - Exclusive! (VIDEO)
Paul – the latest movie from Shaun of the Dead's Simon Pegg and Nick Frost – is a sci-fi comedy flick for the slacker nerd in all of us. With the movie opening on Friday, Celebuzz got a chance to talk with the cast about everything from beating Justin Bieber's Never Say Never at the UK box office to potentially guest starring on Glee.
After the jump, find video interviews with the amazingly funny cast.
Paul, directed by Superbad's Greg Mottola, follows a slacker alien named Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen) as he tries to escape the US government and find a way back home. Eventually Paul runs into English geeks Graeme (Simon Pegg) and Clive (Nick Frost) who try to help him escape "the Big Guy." During the trio's hilarious journey they run into everyone from a one-eyed RV park manager (Kristin Wiig) to a sassy alien-themed diner owner (Jane Lynch).
While Bieber's movie was a huge hit in the States, it was eclipsed by Paul when the two films opened in the UK in February. (Paul snagged $9.2 million it's opening weekend – a huge opening for a film in the UK – while Never Say Never walked away with a paltry $1.3 million.) We asked Simon, Nick, Bill Hader, Jo Lo Truglio and director Greg Mottola how it felt to beat the biggest star in the world.
Meanwhile, the always elegant Blythe Danner (aka Gwyneth Paltrow's mom for you younger folks) talked about the chances of her guest starring on Glee like her famous daughter.
Speaking of Glee, Jane Lynch has a hilarious cameo in Paul as a no-nonsense diner waitress. We asked Simon and Nick how they came about landing the Emmy-winning star for such a small role in the film:
Bill Hader (of SNL) and Jo Lo Truglio (from Reno 911) both play hilariously dumb secret service agents who are called up by their boss to hunt down Paul. We asked the pair how they went from starring in ensemble comedies to playing the bad guys in a sci-fi comedy.
Paul hits theaters nationwide on Friday, March 18.
