Miguel Rocks Some Britney at the Hennessey Black Party (VIDEO)
Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Miguel was recently the guest of honor at the Hennessey Black Party in New York City, where an intimate group of partygoers, entertainment execs and friends of the singer celebrated his recent success. Miguel has racked up two Top 20 R&B singles from his debut album All I Want Is You since its release last November, and industry influencers hit Midtown hotspot Bar Basque in his honor.
Guests at the invite-only bash included: Editor of Billboard Magazine Danyel Smith, Hot 97’s Angie Martinez and DJ Enuff, BET’s Stephen Hill and entertainment and fashion maven Bevy Smith. Aside from the fare and Miguel-inspired cocktails partygoers feasted on, Miguel treated the audience to a performance.
Although the 24-year-old crooner, who was voted as one of MTV’s Artists to Watch in 2011, has performed on stage for huge crowds of adoring fans on his own tour, opening up for Mary J. Blige and Jazmine Sullivan, as well as Usher and Trey Songz, the singer confessed that he had cold feet about performing in front of his friends, business associates and industry insiders.
“I can’t wait to perform, but I’m still a little nervous,” admitted the singer.
Whatever nerves the fashion-forward musician felt surely disappeared by the time he hit the stage. Miguel performed a set of tracks from his debut album. The singer has also generated a large amount of buzz after injecting some “eclecrtic” soul into his cover of Britney Spears’ decidedly sweet bubble gum pop track “Hold It Against Me.”
