Demi Lovato Talks Pressure to be Perfect (VIDEO)
"There's a ton of pressure out there to meet impossible standards," Demi Lovato is saying, over a month after she left a rehab facility after undergoing treatment for an eating disorder.
Lovato says the demands to "look right, be smart, be thin, be talented and popular" can be overwhelming. Her advice, find an outlet. "I love to paint," she discloses. "There are also other ways to relieve that pressure. You can sing, dance, act, draw, write, shoot photos or run. If you're going through a dark period, remember that you're not alone."
Once released from rehab earlier this year, Demi put out a video message to her fans, saying, "I can't tell you how much light you guys brought into my life at probably the darkest time of my life. Without you guys, I wouldn't be here today ... I couldn't have done this without you."
In this most recent video post, she says, encouragingly, "You can get help and you can feel better." The Disney star is seeking to spread her message of hope by asking people to take pictures of themselves and posting to Seventeen magazine's website with a message that reads: "Love is louder than the pressure to be perfect."
