Demi Lovato: I Have Bipolar Disorder
The former Disney star told People.com:
"I never found out until I went into treatment that I was bipolar. ... Looking back it makes sense. There were times when I was so manic, I was writing seven songs in one night and I'd be up until 5:30 in the morning."This news comes nearly a week after Demi was throwing her support behind another celebrity struggling with the same disorder.
"I don’t know Catherine Zeta-Jones personally but what she has decided to do it SO brave.. And SO difficult but worth it… I’m proud of her."Prior to her admittance of having bipolar disorder, Demi's chatted with Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts Wednesday, disclosing how getting bullied led to an eating disorder and bouts with cutting. “I literally didn’t know why they were being so mean to me. And when I would ask them why, they would just say, ‘Well, you’re fat.”
Now, Demi seems to be in a much better place and hopes her story can help others just like her. She said on GMA, “The real reason why I’m sitting down with you is to open up the eyes of so many young girls, that it doesn’t have to be this way.”
