Lindsay Lohan Sentenced to 120 Days in Jail

Lindsay Lohan didn't escape her preliminary hearing unscathed as many thought she would, as a judge has sentenced the troubled starlet to 120 days in jail.

Lohan plans on appealing the decision, which will allow her to post bail and not be taken directly to jail.

Lindsay was also ordered to serve 480 total hours of community service for violating her probation, 360 of which must be served at Downtown Women's Center, which the judge hopes will give Lindsay some perspective on the lives of less-fortunate women. According to TMZ, the remaining 120 hours will be fulfilled at the morgue.

The actress arrived for a hearing Friday stemming from felony charges she was hit with after a store owner accused her of stealing a necklace. Lohan has maintained her innocence throughout, and was given the option by a judge to either agree to a plea deal that would involve jail time, or decide to go to trial to try to beat the charges.

UPDATE: After nearly five hours (and $75,000 in bail), Lindsay walked out of jail late Friday night. TMZ reports Lindsay felt "blindsided" by the judge's sentence of 120 days, calling the situation "ridiculous" and "f**ked up." After her release, the "Mean Girls" star reportedly spent the day with her family, including her brother Michael and sister Ali.

RadarOnline was reporting that the charges against Lohan might be minimized during the hearing saying "there is a very good chance that at the conclusion of the preliminary hearing she [the judge] will reduce the charge from a felony to a misdemeanor.”

The drama all started on January 22 when Lindsay allegedly walked out of Kamofie & Company, a Venice jewelry store, with a $2,500 necklace. Lindsay was caught on surveillance tape trying on the necklace and leaving the store with her group of friends.

Lindsay claims that she is not guilty of the felony grand theft charges. The 24-year-old actress alleges that she was loaned the necklace by the store owner for publicity purposes. The Mean Girls actress returned the necklace several weeks after obtaining it at the store.

On March 1, Lohan gave her first post-rehab interview to Extra, saying she was on a good path and that she had hoped to put the theft charges behind her. Watch a clip here:
