It’s Official! Elizabeth Banks Joins Cast of ‘Hunger Games’
Add 30 Rock star Elizabeth Banks to the long list of actors cast for Hunger Games.
Though it was rumored a few weeks ago, Banks is now officially playing the role of Effie Trinket in the book-turned-movie, ET Canada confirmed. But she’s not the only familiar face joining the cast the film franchise that is predicted to be as big as Twilight.
Funny man John C. Reilly is the odds-on favorite to land the role of Haymitch Abernathy, the drunken Hunger Gameswinner, according to Vulture. In the books, Abernathy is a major celebrity thanks to his past Games glory, but his guilt of having to send children to their death has turned him into an alcoholic. It’s not until he meets Katniss (who will be played by Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (a role Josh Hutcherson was cast as) that he finds a reason to turn his life around.
Also set to star alongside Banks is Liam Hemsworth. Perhaps best known as the on-again, off-again boyfriend to Miley Cyrus, Liam will play the role of Gale Hawthorne.
Elizabeth is amazingly gorgeous. I love her. She’s really beautiful and a really sweet girl.
She and her husband just had their first child via a surrogate. You would think that she would probably want to take time off but she is running back to work and giving up quality time with her baby.
I’m going to be honest, sorry if the fans of The Hunger Games are offended, but they are trying to throw big names and make another Twilight-esque franchise. I feel that it just won’t happen.

I didn’t know the book even revealed the tribute from District 1′s name. He’s the one who Katniss shoots threw the neck when he traps Rue, I don’t recall them ever saying his name. Well I guess it’s Marvel! lol
Katniss finds out his name in Catching Fire when she visits District 1 on the Victory Tour, I believe.

I dont think he’s good for the role of Peeta. I read the book and I take my characters very seriously and to me he’s just all wrong for the part
Personally, I really like Josh Hutcherson for Peeta. Have you haters even SEEN his past interviews? He has the eloquence Peeta has and he has Peeta’s personality. Plus, PEETA IS NOT SCRAWNY. Peeta lifts hundreds of pounds of flour and other stuff for the bakery, and he has muscles. Josh has Peeta’s personality and the role will come naturally to him, but I just can’t see Alex Pettyfer with Peeta’s nice and straighforward personality.
Worst casting ever, I imagined Cinna to be white, with short brown hair, always wearing black clothing and looking slightly French, with a really intelligent look about him. This couldn’t be more bizarre.

This casting is horrible. I imagined Cinna to be Latino or have some sort of European vibe. Calming, kind, very effeminate, and very protective. If he doesn’t have silver eye liner on, I am walking out!
