The Meet & Greet: Chris Brochu, Disney’s New Hottie — Exclusive!
Welcome back to Celebuzz’s The Meet & Greet, where we sit down and chat with rising young stars of film, television and music before they hit the big time. Watch out for these future A-listers!
Starring in Disney Channel’s latest original movie Lemonade Mouth, Chris Brochu has caught the attention of girls everywhere. But this isn’t his first Disney gig. He’s also starred alongside Miley Cyrus in Hannah Montana, which is pretty cool! Celebuzz caught up with Chris to chat about those rumors about a Lemonade Mouth sequel, his infamous flash mob video and his hopes of starring with his little sister on Glee.
First off, I have to ask about the flash mob you did with your ‘Lemonade Mouth’ co-star Hayley Kiyoko at the Apple Store. It was genius!
Thank you! It was actually a spur of the moment thing. Hayley called me up two days before to plan. I was down. We met up with a bunch of dancers and rolled with it. Chris Dupre choreographed all of it. It was fun. We got to The Grove and it was packed. We were so nervous. We had to go for it. Once we got started, there was no stopping us. It was a huge dance session.
Did you eventually get kicked out?
Yes. They were nice about it though. At the end of the song, we got moved out of the store. But everyone was clapping, so I think they enjoyed it.
Are you going to get Apple products for life now?
Lemonade Mouth just debuted earlier this month. One of the funniest scenes was when Stella (Hayley Kiyoko) spits on you. Can you tell me about that scene?
We had to shoot that scene about four times. The funny part is that Hayley didn’t actually get to spit on me. It was a a machine that projected a thick, yellow substance that would look like lemonade. After each take, I had to change my shirt and start over. It was pretty funny.
Do you think the cast will reunite for a sequel?
I think so. This is one of the more deeper movies Disney has done. A lot of people connected with the movie… We’re all pretty busy, but if everybody could get their schedules worked out, we’d all do it. The cast just adores each other. We really connected on set. It’s a big family, so you could easily talk us into doing a Lemonade Mouth 2.
Looking ahead in your career, who is at the top of your list to perform with?
My brother because we’d have a blast together. I really respect him and think it’d be fun to have some brother-bonding time.
You come from quite a family of actors. Your sister Kate was just on Glee, right?
Yeah. She did a guest spot, and it was pretty cool. She actually hadn’t had a lot of auditions because she’s just finishing up high school. Her episode was cool. I was stoked about it.
You actually auditioned for Glee when they did the original casting. Would you ever consider giving it another go?
Yeah. I went out for the roles of Finn and Puck back in the day. If they ever asked me to come back, I’d do it. Maybe my sister and I could do a duet someday.
Finally, I have to ask about the flash mob you did with your ‘Lemonade Mouth’ co-star Hayley Kiyoko at the Apple Store. It was genius!
I love Hunger Games, and I auditioned for the role of Peeta Mellark. Of course, Josh Hutcherson landed the role. If I’m going to get beat out by anyone, I’m glad it was him because he’s a cool guy. What I can tell you though is that the script is fantastic! It’s going to be a great movie and has the potential to be the next Harry Potter.
