Kristin Cavallari On Engagement & What Life Would Be Like Without 'Laguna Beach'
Between designing a shoe for ShoeDazzle (with all benefits going to the One Kid One World charity), planning her upcoming nuptials and producing a new reality show, she sure has a lot on her plate.
Celebuzz sat down with the 24-year-old and asked her all about the engagement, how her relationship with Jay differs from ones in her past and much more.
Congratulations! How has life been since the engagement? Nothing’s changed around us. I do have a lot more bride magazines around me now. My mom gets some for me. I’m so relieved I found someone I want to be with for the rest of my life. No more dating headaches.
Were you surprised? Yes. I kind of knew it was coming soon, but I didn’t know when. I was definitely surprised.
How did he propose? It was very romantic and sweet. He got down on one knee.
The ring is stunning. Do you know if he picked it out himself? Yeah, he did. He did it all himself.
What makes this relationship different from any of your other ones? Jay and I both knew right away that it felt different. It felt very special. We were very comfortable with each other very quickly. It was a good sign. He makes me want to be a better person and I feel so lucky to have him.
What do you think your life would be like if you hadn’t done Laguna Beach? Wow. I think I would’ve ended up going to Emerson to study Broadcast Journalism. That’s how I planned to get into the entertainment business. Who knows – maybe I’d be hosting.
Can you tell me about your shoe that will be released through Shoe Dazzle? It comes out May 16. I wanted to design something that I would wear. I love wedges and I think they’re so great for spring and summer. I also wanted a fun pop-up color. What’s really great is that I’m donating a lot of the proceeds to my charity to help schools.
How would you describe your personal style? I like dressing for my body. Since I’m short and petite, I can’t really wear baggy clothes or it looks like it swallows me. I may not follow the latest trend, but I wear what I like.
Tell us about your recent trip to Kenya. It was amazing and an incredible experience. I was there for about two weeks for my charity One Kid One World and visited 5 different schools. It was great to actually see where the money is going and physically see the progress. These kids don’t have much, but they’re so happy. It’s really rewarding to see that. Now I want to raise a lot more money for it.
How did you get involved with this charity? I was doing different things for different charities and I wanted to just focus on one. I thought One Kid One World would be a great experience – I’ve now been involved with it for a while.
You’ve been involved in a bit of acting. Do you have any plans to do anything with that anytime soon? Not right now. I’m involved in casting and producing a reality show. I love being behind the camera, so I just want to focus all of my energy on that. I have to plan a wedding now and I’m going to focus on that too.
Can you tell us a bit more of that new show? I wish I could tell you all about it. I can tell you that it’s about a group of girls who want it all – personally and professionally. That’s all I can say for now.
