Lady Gaga 'Judas' Music Video Debut! (VIDEO)
The highly-anticipated music video for Lady Gaga's new single "Judas" has leaked online earlier than expected, causing Gaga to drop the video on YouTube before its expected official premiere on E! on Thursday night.
In the seven-minute video Gaga plays the role of Mary Magdalene alongside Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), who plays Judas. The video has become a hot button topic, but the pop star told E! News that her new video wasn't meant to cause an religious uproar.
"I don't view the video as a religious statement. I view it as social statement. I view it as a cultural statement. It's a metaphor. It's not meant to be a biblical lesson," she said.
In a recent interview with MTV, Lady Gaga revealed that she wants the video to speak for itself. "But I will say that the theme of the video and the way that I wanted to aesthetically portray the story was as a motorcycle [Federico] Fellini movie, where the apostles are revolutionaries in a modern-day Jerusalem," she said. "But it's meant more to celebrate faith than it is to challenge it."
The video is co-directed by Gaga and her choreographer Laurianne Gibson. "Judas" is taken from her upcoming studio album Born This Way, which is due in the United States on May 23.
