'Teen Mom' Star Amber Portwood Hospitalized After Suicide Attempt
Police in Anderson, Indiana confirmed to Radar Online that Teen Mom star Amber Portwood attempted to commit suicide Tuesday. Here is the police statement:
“Late this morning (11:34 a.m.), Anderson Police responded to a call at a residence in the 1300 block of Pleasant Meadow Drive. According to the caller, 21-year-old Amber L. Portwood was depressed and threatening to end her life. The victim, who did not appear to be injured, was transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation.”
Star, who first reported the story, say Amber’s on-again, off-again boyfriend, Gary Shirley, is the one who phoned the police, adding that Portwood was face-up on the couch when they arrived on the scene.
The magazine also reports when two EMT workers arrived, they "removed rope that Amber had loosely knotted around her neck", adding that she was "in and out of consciousness."
The Teen Mom star is currently being evaluated in St. Johns Hospital, where Radar says Gary visited her earlier Tuesday.
This news comes days after Portwood pleaded guilty to domestic battery.
