After showing off her new bikini-ready body, Jordin Sparks is telling all about how she lost the weight!

The American Idol champ went from a size 14 down to a size 8 — allegedly dropping about 30 pounds after she started working out with a personal trainer while on tour with the Jonas Brothers. The 21-year-old singer tells People about her new diet and exercise routine that got her there. 

How did she do it?

Aside from the trainer, she’s also gotten into Zumba classes. Zumba combines Latin and International music for a high energy workout. Jordin also changed her eating habits by watching her portions and staying on track with her diet. “I was determined,” she says.

It took her awhile to find something she could stick with. Going vegetarian didn’t work, she says. “I smelled a steak and was, like, ‘I can’t do this!'” She also tried more drastic methods like the Master Cleanse. “I lasted a day,” she confesses.

Although she’s getting a lot of attention for her new figure, she doesn’t want to take it too far. “I definitely didn’t want to lose my curves,” Jordin says. 

With the weight off, her confidence is up! “I’ve always felt cute, but now I feel sexier,” she says. See more in the new issue of People magazine, out this week.
