Will Jennifer Lopez Leave ‘Idol’ After Just One Season?
Jennifer Lopez just a few weeks ago wrapped up her first season as a judge on American Idol, and whether or not she’ll return for a second go-round is already being questioned. Lopez, during an interview with BBC’s Radio One (via Us), left the door open for a possible departure, saying:
“I had an amazing time doing it and I loved it but I have a lot other things happening, and it’s going to come down to me making a choice of really what I want to do for the next year … I’m just really enjoying the time of just waiting and seeing.”
She continues to say “I miss acting” and that when she visits husband Marc Anthony during his tapings, “just going to set and smelling the acting going on…I miss it. I definitely want to get back to it very soon.”
Lopez joined Idol after the departure of Simon Cowell and Kara DioGuardi, and reportedly inked a $12 million, one-year contract. There was debate initially as to whether Lopez had demanded the short contract, or if Idol producers pushed for it in order to see if Lopez would be a good fit for the show.
Cowell and former Idol alum Paula Abdul are gearing up for the American debut of The X-Factor, which is currently taping and holding rehearsals across the U.S. It will premiere in September.
