The Meet & Greet: Matthew Scott Montgomery is a Twihard Just Like the Rest of Us!
At a young age, Matthew knew he was destined to be different then the rest of his school friends. Growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina, where everything was all about sports, the So Random star found his calling in something other then basketball or football — theater.
“It wasn’t until the summer after high school that I found what I love to do [act], he told Celebuzz. “I went up to New York and free lanced with a couple of agents and loved that I could finally act.”
After picking up and moving to Los Angeles, Matthew made his debut onstage with a heart wrenching performance of Yellow, which earned him several awards. In May he won “Best Featured Performance in a Play” at the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards.
“When I got the script, I bawled,” he said. “I knew that I had to do whatever it takes to get the role. When I got the call back, all I did was eat, sleep, and breathe the role of a 15-year-old boy named Kendall.”
After that, doors opened for Matthew and he landed the role of Matthew Bailey in the Disney Channel hit show ‘So Random.’
“I love Disney stuff,” he said. “And getting the chance to work with Sterling Knight and Tiffany Thornton is an amazing experience because people look up to them.”
Working on So Random has given the actor a chance to relive his junior high school years. Celebuzz caught up with him as he dishes out on his character on So Random, his love for Twilight, and his latest projects.
Can you tell us a little bit about your character Matthew Bailey on So Random?
My character, Matthew, has several different acts in the show. He plays Rufus, who is a kid with a million excuses; and Angus, who is the Australian super model. We are also introducing a new character, Edward Cullen. That episode is going to be amazing!
So you’re a Twilight fan?
I am a huge Twilight fan. I read the first book the week it came out in 2005. I was the only boy in my class and the librarian actually recommended Twilight to me. So when I saw the Edward Cullen script I kind of flipped out.
How was it portraying Edward Cullen?
It was really fun getting my make-up done. I had to portray Edward’s shiny skin by getting a ton of glitter on my body. The producers didn’t think I had enough glitter, so they added more and more glitter so that I would sparkle like him. I had everything from the Edward hair to the famous trench coat. I looked awesome.
Do you have any future projects you are currently working on?
I’m in a movie called Night of the Living Fred. It’s a sequel to the Fred movie. And the best part about it is that it’s in 3D. Even though I didn’t realize the movie was going to be in 3D, it’s going to look really cool.
If you can’t get enough of Matthew Scott Montgomery, you can catch him Sunday nights on So Random at 7:30 only on Disney Channel.
