Brenda Song and Megan Hilty Dish about their Lives as Disney Fairies
The Suite Life on Deck star Brenda Song and Megan Hilty from NBC's upcoming Smash are now Disney fairies! Brenda and Megan are the newest ladies to join the fairy family -- along with other Disney celebs, including So Random's Tiffany Thornton and Zendaya from Shake It Up.
The lovely actresses will be featured in a special exclusively on the Disney Channel, where Tinker Bell and all of her fairy friends in Pixie Hollow gather for the legendary Pixie Hollow Games - the Fairy version of the Olympics.
Celebuzz caught up with the actresses at their recording session to see what it really takes to be Disney Fairies.
Garden Fairy friends Chloe (Brenda) and Rosetta (Megan) are first-timers when it comes to the Pixie Hollow Games, and they're on a serious mission to break their fellow garden fairies' long-standing losing streak to win it all! Rosetta is a garden fairy who hates dirt, while Chloe is a newcomer to the Disney Fairy circle. Together, they're about to go against the odds and bring it to the fairies!
How does it feel to be a part of the Disney Fairy franchise? Brenda: It is so amazing. First of all, it’s every girls dream to be a fairy. When this came about, I was like how could I not do it.
Megan: It’s awesome. Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to be a Disney Princess. A Disney fairy is just as cool, so I’m very excited.
Do you think you can relate to your fairy? Brenda: I feel like I never know if I’m going to like it until I try it, and that’s kind of Chloe. Life is too short to not try something and put everything into it. That’s how Chloe is. That’s what we have in common.
Megan: Absolutely. [My character] doesn’t really dig the dirt so much, which is kind of ironic because she’s a garden fairy. I think I would be a lot like her ... but I hope I could be a lot like her and turn it around for my friends.
How do you portray your character using just your voice? Brenda: Megan is so amazing. She can make her voice do whatever [she wants]. In every character that I play, I pull a little something out of myself to make it real. With voice over ... you don’t realize that every [little thing] makes such a difference. Something I've really learned is to kind of control my voice. It’s been really fun because it’s a new challenge for me. Every day I’m able to go in and find different things –- I was like, oh I didn't know I could do that, and that’s what’s fun about this.
Megan: I’ve always been fascinated by voiceovers and it takes a completely different skill set. You can’t rely on any of the physical stuff, so you have to really convey everything through your voice. I just find that fascinating, especially as a singer. It’s just something I've always wanted to do.
Your fairies have their own fashion statements, what’s yours? Brenda: I swear there’s something magical about shoes. When you put on a pair of high heels, like all of a sudden I swear something goes into my veins and into my blood and makes me just happy. I can be upset about something or just not be feeling great about myself, then put on a great pair of shoes and I feel like I can take on the world.
Megan: I never go anywhere without four or five inch heels. I care a lot about my nails -- my toenails and my fingernails. I feel like they always have to be at least clean looking. I don’t think I have a staple anything because I like to change things up.
Don’t miss Chloe and Rosetta and all of their fairy friends' exciting adventures during the premiere of the Pixie Hollow Games special on the Disney Channel this fall!
