‘Jersey Shore’ Vinny on Smooshing in Italy: Thankfully, I Don’t Get International Calls
“We all have our own game and swagger, but I was able to speak Italian the most so I had an advantage over the other guys,” he tells Celebuzz, adding he isn’t too worried about getting calls from any of his European smoosh buddies. “I don’t get international calls on my phone,” he joked.
Celebuzz caught up with the Shore star to talk about those wild nights in Italy, why he temporarily left the Seaside Heights house and his “high-maintenance” hair routine.
After months of spoilers and rumors, fans are finally getting to see the Shore crew’s antics in Italy. But Vinny promises there is much more going down than shots, smooshing and GTL (gym-tanning-laundry), including a “couple big fights” — likely alluding to Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino who got into a major fist fight abroad.
“Florence is a big party town, so we definitely took advantage of every part of the city,” he said. Although wild nights did ensue quite often, Vinny surprisingly admits his favorite part of filming in Italy was getting to see the museums and tours.
“My most memorable moment was going on the sight-seeing tours. We did get to learn a lot about Florence. It’s an amazing place. The whole town is an open museum, so to learn about each building is pretty remarkable,” he gushed. A close second is the guys’ hair experiment gone terribly wrong. “At one point, we try to give each other haircuts, and we fail miserably. There is a lot of comedic stuff — along with the fights and drama. We really went through a lot.”
After the cast flew back from Florence, they were shoved back into their house along Seaside Heights to film the next season. And it was Vinny’s reported departure that quickly made headlines.
He cleared up the incident for us, explaining:
“A couple cast members have left in the past, but the media took their own spin on my story. We film 24 hours and this last one was tough for us. I took a little break and got my batteries recharged. Then, I came back. I make the best choices for myself and needed to take out a little time for myself.”
Although his life is on blast, many fans might be intrigued to learn he’s high maintenance when it comes to his hair. “I go to the barbershop every five days to get my hair cut. Sometimes you just can’t get to the barbershop, so I have to use do-it-yourself methods,” he disclosed. So what’s his secret to achieving that fresh-from-the-barber look at home? Philips Norelco DIY Hair Clipper Pro, he admits.
Check out Vinny and the rest of the Jersey Shore crew Thursday nights at 10PM on MTV.
