Bethenny Frankel: ‘It’s Preposterous to Blame a TV Show for Someone’s Suicide’
While tragic, Bethenny Frankel says it is unfair to put the blame on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills because series regular Russell Armstrong took his own life.
“It’s preposterous to blame a TV show for someone’s suicide,” she tells USA Today. “When the show started filming, I’d heard he wasn’t so kind to his wife. But I know nothing about them.”
A reality veteran, Bethenny certainly knows the ins and outs of the biz. She says that everyone is aware of the pressures and expectations well before cameras ever start rolling.
“People sign very lengthy documents and they know what they’re getting into. Life is stressful. It’s unfair to blame a TV show for something personal,” she added. “I believe that. I really do. If I go through something horrendous, there’s no discussion that Bravo had anything to do with that.”
Russell died from an apparent suicide on August 15. The new season of RHOBH premieres Monday, September 5.
I agree with Bethenny, you can’t blame Bravo. What ever the issues they had before filming that is what it was and we can just pick and choose what has caused it. It’s horrible that it happened, he was probably going through some rough times and if it’s money issues then I see why, most who has lots of money and use to the lifestyles of riches and now has to realized that it’s gone or going for that matter, it’s hard for them and I can understand it. All we can do really, say a prayer for the family and for him to hopefully that he is with God and God is protecting him. All this judging and blaming is not helping any.
Agree! Apparently Russell had much deeper problems than being on Bravo, and the way I see it, he didn’t HAVE to sign up for it. I feel bad he took his own life…but I feel much worse for his children! Sorry, but that was very selfish of him!
