Oli and I met when we were just 10 years old in elementary school. We always liked each other, but never said anything. Freshman year in high school, we finally got together and he became my first kiss. Not too long after, he moved away and we lost touch. In college, I ended up getting married and having a child with someone else and thought that was it for me. When I was 8 months pregnant, we saw each other at our mutual friend’s funeral. My boyfriend of 5 years proposed to me on my 23rd birthday, 9/4/11. It was the greatest moment of my life by far! His name’s Raffi, growing up without parents at a young age left him with no choice but to mature fast, pay his way through MBA school, and work to provide for himself. On the other hand, I, Anasheh, grew up with a big family of 3 sisters and had to start working in highschool to cover my own expenses, pay my way through nursing school, and help out at the house. My fiance, Christopher and I met almost seven sweet years ago. At that time I was only fifteen, a sophomore in high school, and him a senior in high school. That is where our common reference of ‘High School Sweethearts’ comes in…needless to say, I love the sound of it. I know it is heard from many, but it was love at first site. Just in the first few months of our relationship, he became my love, my life, and my everything. However, over the course of those seven years, we were constantly distant, yet continuously making our love grow stronger. As Chris headed off to a university in Philadelphia, I finished my last two years in high school. After that, I packed up to head to Penn State University where I spent a year, and then off to Barcelona, Spain for a few months. Some people ask who we managed? Hi Kim, I know I am late on this sorry. I have been in a relationship for 4 years with my boyfriend Jesus. After a year of being together we decided to get engaged and plan for our wedding. That same year I got laid off and he was the only one working. I couldn’t even get engaged. Couple months later I found out I was pregnant so I couldn’t get back to work. Three months after I got laid off he got laid off as well. We were trying to make it with his 401k and with both our unemployment. Our dreams of getting married kept getting farther and farther. Two months after that I got a job. But due to both of us being unemployed bills were piled up and we couldn’t see the end of them. Three months after that he started working. I was working in a hotel and went thru another layoff. Now we are back to square one again. He is the only one working and paying all the bills and rent on his own. We don’t want to get married thru court we have always talked about a nice wedding where webcan have all our family together due to that we live in Florida and our family live in the virgin islands. So we thought the year of our five year anniversary we would be able to without a problem. Well unfortunately a big problem occurred in July of 2010 when my husband’s back went out on him at work. He later had to go on family meed leave without pay from his job and he was the only income we had. The thing with me was I had just graduated and was having the hardest time finding work. He had surgery in October of 2010 and was released from his job due to his restrictions being so low and now even though I do work I only make enough to pay our bills and take care of our daughters (3 and 4). I think the worst thing that killed us last year and this is that we did not and will not have the money for our children to even have Christmas presents let alone us have a wedding.
