Over the summer, series creator Ryan Murphy chatted with TVGuide.com about the upcoming season, saying:

“This time, we know what we’re writing towards, which is great.”

He’s also added that season three will focus more on the central characters, no longer relying on guest stars, tributes, or theme episodes to pull in big numbers.

This season will, however, feature songs from musicals ‘Anything Goes,’ ‘Annie Get Your Gun,’ and ‘Hairspray.’ In addition, new series regular Darren Criss, who plays fan-favorite Blaine, will be featured in a cover of Tom Jones’ ‘Its Not Unusual.’
