For the first time since quitting the Tonight Show, Conan O’Brien surprised audiences everywhere when he showed up at NBC in NYC, appearing on the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon Wednesday night.

Conan wasn’t just dropping by to say “hello,” he was there on a mission.

The talk show host showed up to get Triumph the Insult Comic Dog that NBC owns the rights to. “You know, I was back in New York and I decided I wanted to come back and check out my old studio,” he told Fallon.

Jimmy quipped back, “You were here for 16 years and then what happened?” He was alluding the fact that Conan left under very uncomfortable circumstances.

“I left something here … and I think I’m going to need it again,” Conan said pulling out the puppet. He then quickly left in a jovial fashion, Triumph in hand.
