'Glee' Star Harry Shum Jr.: I'm No Longer 'The Other Asian'
Harry Shum Jr. used to just be known as "the other Asian" on Glee; despite being a member of the New Directions, his character, Mike Chang, rarely sang or even talked - he just danced.
But in the show's third season, which is focusing more on its core characters, we're finally getting to see a new side of Mike, one that is allowing Harry to show off his true acting prowess.
The change-up appears to be working. In a new interview with GQ, he proudly stated, "It's been like a year and a half since anybody's referred to me as 'the other Asian.'"
Harry also explained that a passion for dance isn't his only similarity with his underdog Glee character. "I'm actually really shy. I'd rather dance in a corner than dance in a circle," he said.
With moves like his, we don't think he has anything to be shy about! Be sure to pick up the November edition of GQ for more from Harry, and check him out when Glee returns on November 1!
