Johnny Depp's Rising Star & Style Through The Years (PHOTOS)
Being hailed as one of Hollywood's most versatile actors may be a lot of pressure for one to handle, Johnny Depp always seems to shake things up and keep the audience thrilled with his many different portrayals (and costumes). From his transformation in the 1990 drama Edward Scissorhands to his Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise, Depp has always kept movie goers wanting more.
Not all of Depp's characters have been welcomed with open arms. In fact, in an interview with Vanity Fair earlier this year, the star touched on his interpretation of the now infamous Captain Jack Sparrow not receiving the most positive reviews from Disney execs, saying:
“They couldn’t stand him. They just couldn’t stand him,I think it was Michael Eisner, the head of Disney at the time, who was quoted as saying, ‘He’s ruining the movie. Upper-echelon Disney-ites, going, What’s wrong with him? Is he, you know, like some kind of weird simpleton? Is he drunk? By the way, is he gay?' … And so I actually told this woman who was the Disney-ite… ‘But didn’t you know that all my characters are gay?’ Which really made her nervous.”Of course Depp has always raised the bar, and in celebration of his new film The Rum Diary hitting theaters, Celebuzz has a compiled a gallery of Johnny throughout the years.
The film is a reprisal of his role as the late Hunter S. Thompson, famed author and a friend to the actor. Johnny also played Hunter in the 1998 film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Will you be going to see The Rum Diary? Check out the trailer and let us know what you think in the comments!
