Taylor Lautner to Star in Gus Van Sant's Next Indie Movie
Taylor Lautner is prepping to go from big-screen blockbusters to arthouse indies.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 19-year-old Twilight hunk will star in Gus Van Sant's next independent movie. No official plot details have been released, though the project is said to be "based on a nonfiction article in The New Yorker magazine that Lautner has optioned."
Hopefully for Taylor, this post-Twilight project will do a little better than his last movie, the critically maligned action-thriller Abduction. Thus far, Abduction grossed an underwhelming $27.1 million at the box office and already appears to be a sure-fire contender for this year's Razzies.
Van Sant's films include the Oscar-winning hits Good Will Hunting and Milk, as well as the critically acclaimed indies My Own Private Idaho and To Die For. He was recently photographed having dinner with Lautner and Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black (Milk), prompting GQ Australia to ask Lautner if his openly gay dinnermates ever made a pass at him. The question was met with a heap of controversy - so much so that the magazine later issued an apology to Lautner.
