Fergie Credits Mother For Keeping Her Grounded (PHOTOS)
Move over Simon Cowell! Grammy-winning artist Fergie is ready to find the next big superstar in the latest singing competition, Avon Voices. Giving singing hopefuls the chance to travel the world, the Black Eyed Peas singing sensation has combed over 6,000 video submissions from 60 different countries -- and finally crowned a winner this week in NYC.
But picking a winner wasn't easy. Fergie admits she started having flashbacks to when she first started singing -- recalling all the emotional jitters that came along with trying to withstand the competition and critics.
"Tonight, I could feel the nerves; there's giggles and shakiness with their voices. It reminds me of when I was a little girl starting off and getting my first chance on that stage. It's nerve-wrecking, but you push through it and find that inner superstar," Fergie told Celebuzz at the Avon Voice Finale. "Watching these girls singing reminds me of my pre-Black Eyed Peas days. It's all about withstanding the pressure. They're talented, so now it's about getting the nerves out and bringing out the best performance. It's about who can really bring it."
Fergie admits she got a little emotional seeing all the love in the room, adding she owes her mom a lot for keeping her grounded.
"My mom would tell me that before I'd hit the stage, I should always offer it up to God and my best would come through," she said. Trying to hold back tears, she added that it's the advice she plans to pass down -- if she has kids with hubby Josh Duhamel. Aww!
"I swear I'm not going to cry... My mom is a huge Celebuzz fan and will see this interview now. Love you, mom!" Fergie added.
