Did Woody Harrelson Just Reveal the ‘Hunger Games’ Will Be Split Into Four Films? (VIDEO)

'Hunger Games' Teaser!
The first teaser trailer. Watch »

The Hunger Games series only consists of three books (Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay), but are they going to pull a Twilight and break the last book into two parts?

While HG is hitting theaters on March 23, 2012 and Catching Fire is set for November 2013, Woody Harrelson sat down with MTV and accidentally mentioned (while talking about his "marvelous" co-stars) that he had signed on for "four friggin' movies." (!)

So does this mean we'll get at least one extra dosage of Katniss, Peeta and Gale?!

We're not 100% sure!

There is definitely a lot to cover in these books, so it would make sense to break it up.

The Hunger Games, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, is based on Suzanne Collins' popular book series about a dystopian future where kids from the age of 12 to 18 are sent to an area to fight to the death -- all filmed on live TV.

Woody also mentions in the interview that his brother Brett inspired Haymitch's long 'do, and also says the film will be like "nothing you've ever seen before." Check out what else he has to say in the interview!

Do you think that they're really going to do four Hunger Games films? Let us know in the comments!

Is this not OLD news?? I don't think Woody spoiled anything, I think this was announced months ago.

Seriously "Mockingjay" isn't that long (390 pages). To try and split that would be stretching it out too far and border line milking it. If it were two-hundred pages (plus) longer than I'd see the point. But I don't believe four films is necessary. It'd seem like a waste of time and money when the source material isn't long.

PULL A TWILIGHT??? are you guys retarded??? I mean really??? Harry Potter split the last movie first, then twilight copied it, and now the Hunger Games will too?? oh well it doesn't matter all of the series end crappily except for HP, I won't be watching Breaking Dawn or Mockinjay either way.

People are getting ahead of themselves. Let's see if the first movie is a success first or if it will end up like Percy Jackson and The Lighting Thief or like The Golden Compass. If it flops there will be a lot of disappointed fans of the books

Don't want to see teens in films.

Sorry guys, you're way uniformed with this story. News of Lionsgate during The Hunger Games into 4 films happened months ago http://www.hypable.com/hunger-games/2011/06/01/the-hunger-games-may-be-turned-into-four-action-films/

Goodness. Just because Harry Potter did, doesn't mean they all have to. It was necessary for the Deathly Hallows plot. It's not necessary for The Hunger Games. I've read the book and unless Suzanne Collins (whose writing the screenplay) decided to add some new scenes, I don't think it needs to be split.
