J.R. Martinez Wins ‘Dancing With the Stars’!
Did J.R Martinez capture America's heart and the mirror ball trophy? Did Ricki Lake two-step her way to number one? Or did Rob Kardashian and the Kardashian navy carry Monday's perfect 10 performers to the end?
Spoiler alert: The winner of the thirteenth season of Dancing With the Stars is...
J.R Martinez and Karina Smirnoff!
The Iraq war veteran stumbled a bit with his first jive, but ultimately he redeemed himself with his instant samba later in the night, earning him a perfect score of three 10s from the judges for his final effort. Earlier in the night, all three judges commended him for his energy and spirit that he brought to each dance.
"You had a rough time tonight... You are such a catalyst for joy though," Carrie Ann Inaba told J.R.
Meantime, Rob Kardashian gave him a run for his money, as the two duked it out til the very end in the finals. Rob had the higher total score between the two -- 113 to 112 in the finals -- but ultimately J.R. earned more votes from the public to take home the mirror ball trophy.
Though he didn't win, Rob certainly didn't feel as though he lost in any way.
"I'm not going anywhere. This is such a crazy experience. I'm definitely not sad," he said to host Tom Bergeron after the news.
J.R. thanked the voters and called partner Karina "amazing" and told her he was thrilled to help her win her first trophy on DWTS.
Earlier in the night, Ricki Lake was sent home early despite judge Len Goodman calling her tango "one of the most memorable of this or any season."
