A very good friend of mine is very sick this Christmas, like many Christmases for her in the past ten years. She is suffering from kidney failure for the second time because her transplanted kidney has failed; she spends hours every week hooked up to a dialysis machine so that she can stay healthy enough to wait for a new kidney. Unfortunately, dialysis is very hard on the body and her heart and lungs are becoming weaker with every dialysis session.
Lisa is the kind of girl who is beautiful inside and out, she lights up a room with her smile, she can make you laugh when there is nothing to laugh about, she gives of herself to everyone around her and never asks for anything in return, and she shows incredible strength in fighting her disease; she is simply amazing; she is my hero.
I have watched her struggle every day for years now, it pains me to see what she has to go through on a daily basis, what she has to face; and even though those of us around her can watch her struggle, we can see her pain and her frustration, I am sure that we cannot even begin to imagine what it is really like for her to fight this with everything she’s got. every day she fights, every day is a battle for her, I can’t imagine how exhausting it must be. Lisa is not one to feel sorry for herself, in fact I can’t remember a single time where she said “poor me”. Lisa is one of a kind, her generosity, kindness, spirit, and strength inspire everyone around her. This year Lisa is asking for one thing; she wants everyone to raise awareness about kidney disease, living kidney donation, and the importance of signing your donor card.
So, long story short, Hilary, can you please help Lisa to raise awareness by sharing her story? The facebook link to her facebook note detailing her struggles with this disease is at the bottom of the page.

I wanted to let you know that your songs really helped me during a really tough period of my life (struggled with anorexia and Bulimia)I couldn’t give up. Your songs sorta gave me strength.
