Today's Golden Globe nominations were filled with a handful of surprises and of course, snubs. Though Ryan Gosling  and Kristen Wiig were nominated, plenty of names were noticeably absent from the list.

Where was Emma Stone (The Help), Michael Pitt (Boardwalk Empire), Carey Mulligan (Shame) or Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene), who all pulled standout performances this year in movies and television? Even Kristen Dunst (Melancholia) didn't get any Golden Globes love, despite her win at Cannes for best actress earlier this year.

So what gives?! A lot of these snubs have left us scratching our heads. Click through the gallery to see the biggest 2012 Golden Globe nomination snubs and tell us which star you think most deserved a nod this year.

The 69th Golden Globes air Sunday, Jan. 15 at 8PM ET on NBC. Controversial funnyman Ricky Gervais returns as host.

Among the top nominees were George Clooney, who picked up nods in both the directing (The Ides of March) and acting (The Descendants) categories; Ryan Gosling, who is a double nominee this year for The Ides of March and Crazy, Stupid Love.; and Michelle Williams, who earned a nod for her critically acclaimed performance in My Week With Marilyn.

Who else picked up nominations this morning? See the full list here.

Michael Pitt was Boardwalk Empire. It is ridiculous that he wasn't nominated and as an aside, killing him off will hurt the ratings of the show.
