Jessica Alba was representing Honor.com well by dressing simply chic. The actress, 30, stepped out Wednesday night for an event for the website wearing a black and cream colored Jenni Kayne suit that looked both comfortable and classy. She finished off the look with a matching Kate Spade sweater and Jimmy Choo shoes.

The monochromatic trend has transcended over seasons and stars, and looks to be a style we'll be seeing for a while. From Alba last night to Lady Gaga and Heidi Klum, the one-color (sometimes two) style is a go-to on the red carpet.

The key to really achieving the effect of the wildly popular style is to truly commit to sticking with one color. It may scare you to think about at first, but it is easier than it looks. The ultimate commitment? Matching dress, makeup, shoes, bag, and jewelry. Jennifer LopezAshley Greene, and Dita von Teese would all have to be nominated for the best monochromatic ensemble award.

One way to pull off this trend is to pair it with another! Most optical illusion dresses are monochromatic, and are also great for making you look slimmer. Check out that gallery below!

"monochromatic: having or consisting of one color or hue, monochrome" -- since Jessica's outfit is "black and cream colored," as you point out, then it can't be monochromatic
