James Franco Channels Hugh Hefner on the Set of 'Lovelace' (PHOTOS)

He's played everyone from James Dean to Allen Ginsberg, and now, actor James Franco is taking on arguably his most exciting role to date: yep, Hugh Hefner.

The Oscar-nominated actor appears to have put down his school books this week to film scenes for the upcoming Linda Lovelace biopic Lovelace, in which he plays the iconic creator of Playboy.

The film, which stars Amanda Seyfried as the titular character, re-teams Franco with Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, who directed him in the 2011 biopic Howl. The role of Hefner is said to be a cameo, but hey, we'll take what we can get.
