After Karl Lagerfeld called her "a little too fat" in a recent interview, Adele puts it all out there in the new issue of People by talking about her weight and body image.

"I've never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines," she says. "I represent the majority of women and I'm very proud of that."

She's kind of our hero. Stay true, boo!

Adele will be showing off her feminine curves at the Grammys in her first public performance since having surgery at the end of last year that forced her to cancel a series of concerts. The 23-year-old UK beauty is nominated in six categories.

Lagerfeld later retracted his comments by saying they were taken out of context.

I'd rather look fat than corpse-like.

I respect Karl Lagerfeld as a great designer and creative genius, but I don't respect him for some of the things he says, and this is one of them. Adele is a singer, the only thing that matters is that she have a good voice. She has a fantastic voice and writes beautiful songs, so she more than fulfilled the requirements of her job. Mr. Lagerfeld has to realize that some professions do not revolve around being thin. The music industry has committed the grave idiocy of valuing looks above talent and quality of music, we have gotten a lot of terrible singing and music. One of the reasons Adele is so popular because she makes high quality music and has a great voice, and people have responded very positively to her, so the fact that she's not a size 0, didn't make one iota of difference. Now, the question really is why Lagerfeld felt he needed to say that about her. And I say it's because he himself is highly insecure about his looks.

Adele is beautiful! Lovely figure and voice. Personally I am glad to see a woman over a size 2 that is rocking the music and celebrity world. I may be a petite girl but its not because I try to be and im sure she is the size she is naturally as well. Both women and men need to stop obsessing over one idea of perfection! Beauty is different all over the world but what should remain the same in any place is being healthy and happy with what you have. That is something to be celebrated by both sexes!

I tend to agree with you, but you do realize the hypocrisy in this statement, correct?

  • Kate

P.S.--I also suppose that When Karl designed dresses for both Jennifer Lopez and Lily Allen, they paid him enough money for him to forget that in the modelling world they are also considered "fat." Money, money, money.........

  • Kate

In a world where you "fat" if you're over a size 6 I dont expect this dude to think any other way. Adele YOU ROCK!

  • AlaBella

The comment was uncalled ofr, especially coming from Lagerfeld, someone who was way overweight himself for years. Way to go, Adele, don't stoop to his level!

well ... he didnt know that people who's 'fat' are good singers ? the fat in the voice box makes good sounds ... and who's he to jugde her ?

  • candy

People look 10 or 15 lbs heavier in pictures. So, she looks a healthy weight to me. And why would that fake tanned, wrinkled dude have the nerve to comment on anyone else's appearance?

Too fat for what? Someone needs to tell him he's too ugly.

I think Langerfeld has been VERY LUCKY to be where he is as he is quite ugly, has horrible skin with wrinkles and has horrible hair. When someone makes a comment like that it speaks all about them and how totally classless they truly are.

Lagerfeld is a d0uche for saying that to begin with!
