Jim Carrey's Daughter Booted From 'American Idol' (VIDEO)

Turns out Jim Carrey's daughter Jane is not the next American Idol, but if anyone knows how hard it is coming up in show business, it's her dad.

Following the news that she was ousted from the competition, Jane held back tears as she recalled what her dad told her, "[My dad said,] 'I've been said no to a bunch of times,' and it worked out well for him in the end so hopefully I have a shot."

The news of her leaving the show came after Jane, 24, chose to perform Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Looking Out My Back Door" as part of Hollywood Week. Before hitting the stage, she said of her song, "My expectations of this week are that I'll stay here, so get used to me!"

However, following the shaky performance, she knew that it didn't go so well. Jane told cameras, "I know I can do way better than that so I'm really disappointed."

Do you think Jane should have been booted from Idol so soon? Sound off in the comments

Well... there are children of celebrities that get carried on their parent's coat tails. Some don't have talent, and get far on no merit of their own. While I feel bad for her, I think she may have learned a lesson that some other celebrity children need to learn. You have to work hard to get where you're going. She seems like she does have talent, from the little bit I heard. If she keeps hanging in there and pushing herself to succeed, when and if she does, she can say, "I got there on my own." She'll be so much happier when she does. I wish her the best.
