As more details trickle out about tragic death of Whitney Houston, producers of the upcoming film Sparkle have now confirmed that it will hit theaters in August as planned.

In a statement released to CNN, a spokesperson for Sony said, “Like all those who knew and loved her, we are shocked and saddened and the world has lost an incomparable talent. Right now our thoughts are with her daughter, her family and her friends.”

Sparkle, Whitney’s final movie, is a remake of the 1976 musical drama, and stars Jordin Sparks as one of three sisters who must deal with the cost of fame as their singing careers take off. Whitney plays Jordin’s mother.
