As the world mourns the loss of Whitney Houston, her family has gathered today for a private viewing today.

We want to remember Whitney too, as the performer who entertained us all with her many songs, movie and TV roles. One of our guilty favorites? Cinderella — the 1997 TV update of the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.

The rebooted version featured an all-star, multi-racial cast.

During her career, Whitney made a number of artistic statements that spoke to her character — from the underlying feminist tones in Waiting to Exhale to the interracial relationship featured in The Bodyguard — she used her platform to promote love, acceptance and equality.
