Looks like the Hunger Games is off to a great box office start -- and there is still a month before it hits the big screen!

On Wednesday, tickets went on sale for the book turned film franchise, and Fandango is reporting that they sold more advance, first day tickets for Hunger Games than any other movie in the company's 12 year history. That's pretty huge! It's also selling out a number of different show times, forcing theaters to add more screenings to meet demand.

This particular record was previously held by one of the Twilight films. Any guesses which one?

Before Hunger Games broke this record, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was the crown jewel, when it sold out a number of advanced screenings on May 14, 2010 before it's June 30, 2010 release.

Rick Butler, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Fandango said:

"Yesterday we saw the biggest first day advance ticketing sales in our company's nearly 12-year history – which is especially impressive for a March release and a non-sequel."
We have a feeling that not only will this film do amazing at the box office, but will also receive critical acclaim! Sure, he may be a little bias, but Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark) just saw the film a few days ago and said:

Have you gotten your HG tickets yet? Sound off in the comments!

Chanel and Elsa were equally excited to soak some rays while meeting with some of their biggest fans who lined up for hours to get a spot by the pool. The decorations were full of neon hot pink, light purple, ocean blue, lime and hot orange decorations including inner tubes, towels and Chanel Sunglasses for guests to take home.

Gucci sent their fall/winter 2012/2013 collection down the Milan Fashion Week runway today and it featured a much darker, more gothic and vampire-like color palette than what was shown by the iconic design house for fall 2011. One year ago Gucci Outlet showed bright colors and blocked them together, helping to explode the current color blocking trend. For fall 2012, Gucci moved away from the trend they started and let black rule the runway.

@hungergamesyesplease... this could be the whole Rue situation where she steals the backpack of Tribute 1 (Marvel) after she kills him. Plus, I think I saw another picture with her in the arena with an orange backpack.

BAZINGA! It's exciting because it gives us a huge chance for Catching Fire and Mockingjay.

Having read both book series... Twilight is about that angsty teenage love, the insane kind that ended up with Romeo and Juliet dead. And, technically, with Bella Swan dead, too. The Hunger Games is about a girl who loves her sister so much she sticks her neck out to keep her safe, at risk to herself. She then goes on to keep sticking her neck out for people she loves (or just cares about) because doing that means more for survival. Both series entertain, but only The Hunger Games has an actual message in addition to the entertainment.

I've got my tickets for the midnight showing! There's nothing as exciting as seeing the movie in the company of others who are fans of the book series too~ I can't wait!

at least we all agree that they should not be compared as they are both about different things.twilight is about doing anything for the one you love whereas the hunger games seems to be about survival
