2012 Oscars Trend Spotting: Neutral Colors Take Over Red Carpet (PHOTOS)

The sexy styles spoke for themselves on the 2012 Oscars red carpet, with many celebs going for more neutral colors. From Kristen Wiig to Gwyneth Paltrow, white, nude and champagne shades were a big trend we saw on Sunday.

Though a few showed up in red (Michelle Williams, Emma Stone, Natalie Portman), many stars let the designs do the talking and kept the colors simple.

Though these shades can sometimes be a bore, we were a fan of many of these dresses, but what do you think? Did you like the neutral colors on the red carpet? Play fashion critic in the comments.

Another trend we saw was the peplum look. Tina Fey and Michelle Williams both rocked this style statement, and expect to see this look more throughout the year.
