It's official. Sarah Jessica Parker is no longer the only Carrie Bradshaw to hit TV. AnnaSophia Robb, best known for her role in Soul Surfer, has been cast to play the younger Sex and the City character in The CW TV series titled The Carrie Diaries, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Before landing this coveted role, AnnaSophia also starred as Violet in the 2005 flick Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The Carrie Diaries begins during Carrie’s senior year of high school as the character starts to ask her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while in Manhattan. The show will have large shoes to fill but breathe easy because THR reports that SATC scribe/co-producer Amy B. Harris will adapt the book and act as a show runner.

The highly anticipated prequel will also be executive produced by Gossip Girl and Hart of Dixie duo Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage among others.

Do you think AnnaSophia is the right choice to take on the beloved SATC character? Sound off in the comments.

I can't look at SJP a little older photos without asking what a disaster happened to her face? Her eyes are slits, her nose seems to have doubled in length, she's someone else! In such short time! It can't only be aging, it must have been some unsuccessful job.

I always remember when she still had black hair. It really offset her eyes and gave her a sort of exotic, witchy look which I liked. I haven't taken to the blond at all even though she's had it for a while now. As for her acting, the project sounds like the typical high-school teenage drama so I think for longtime fans of SATC, it'll be a completely new and alien series, thus it won't really matter if she personifies Carrie or not. They'll be completely different people, figuratively and literally.
