Who Should Play Whitney Houston? Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson & Jordin Sparks Reportedly In Talks (POLL)
The legendary Whitney Houston may be laid to rest, but her legacy lives on.
As reported by the London Daily Mail, a biopic chronicling the “I Will Always Love You” singer is in the works by her longtime mentor Clive Davis. Houston’s impact on music and film dates back to her work in The Body Guard and The Preacher’s Wife –so a project of this magnitude was inevitable.
The important question here is: Who should take on the role of Whitney? Here’s what we’ve heard…
Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson – who won an Oscar for her moving performance in Dreamgirls – and Jordin Sparks are a few names that have been thrown into the ring. Take our poll above, and let us know in the comments who you would cast in the role.
While the “We Found Love” singer has no acting experience to date, Rihanna will be releasing her first acting project and board game-inspired flick Battleship this summer. She will be donning camouflage to play a weapons officer alongside True Blood‘s Alexander Skarsgard and model Brooklyn Decker.
American Idol alum Sparks isn’t new to the acting scene, as she’s appeared on Broadway’s “In the Heights” and in the upcoming Sparkle remake alongside Whitney herself. The film is expected to be released this August.
Another name that has been tossed around to play Whitney is Kill Bill and Independence Day actress Vivica A. Fox, 47. She has been nominated for countless acting honors and nabbed a few accolades -including the 1997 MTV Movie Awards’ ‘Best Kiss’ with Will Smith in Independence Day.
Is there someone else you had in mind to play Whitney? Let us know in the comments!

None of them, I honestly think Kelly Rowland, Brandy or Monica should play Whitney Houston!
yeah Kelly Rowland and Monica will be good bot I’m looking at Tamyra Gray
Well…. if I had to choose out of the three then I would say Rihanna only based on looks. For voice though I would say Jennifer Hudson.
Jennifer Hudson would be the ideal person. what do you think guys ?
she would be good but Tamyra Gray would be perfect
Brandy would be perfect fit as Whitney! She has the voice and the look!
Is the woman even cold, yet? This question is being brought up too soon.
Neither..Le’Andria Johnson
not riahanna MOST DEF!!! Out of all three of them i would say jennifer but i wish they had different choices!
Jennifer Hudson as long as she can maintain her great looking weight!! She is a Great singer as of course Whitney was!!
i think either Beyonce or Brandy should if possible.
Jennifer Hudson Most Def. !!! She Can Act She Can Sing And She Is Too Much Talent To Not Include In The Project !!!!!
Def agree.. Rihanna cannot sing on Whitney’s level, lets be honest!! And it would be an insult to pick Jordan Sparks over Jennifer Hudson..!
haha yeah but I’m going for Tamyra Gray
Ewww defintiely not Rihanna!! That must be a joke that she’s a choice. Rhianna sounds like a sick cat when she sings.
Hell no..rihanna is no where near whitney’s style….nor can she sing like whitney…I say let this girl i know named Horrez White play as whitney..She sounds exactly like whitney houston and she is skinny, tall 5’9 like whitney and she has been through a lot so she truly can act ,sing and play the part plus whiney was her idol i know her personally.I promise you she is the perfect person for the part.
I agree, it’s too soon to talk about htis. My mother keeps asking me who I think should take on Whitney’s role in Getting to Happy, the sequel to Waiting to Exhale and I do not think they should make it without her but if I had to choose someone it would be Brandy. I also think Brandy, then again she isn’t old enough, she would be a perfect chose for a biopic
ok i got it , now who should play her is Tamyar Gray she has it all the look ,the voice everything
