Jessica Lange Returning to 'American Horror Story' As Entirely New Character
Good news? Fans of American Horror Story were disappointed when creator Ryan Murphy said the cast from the first season would be replaced by all new characters -- but now he says Jessica Lange is coming back!
Jessica won a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild for her role, so EW's report that she's returning should't be that much of a surprise. But, there's a twist! The actress will return to the show as an entirely new character.
"We have designed the second season of American Horror Story completely around her character,” Murphy tells EW. "Last year Jessica came in with Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott. This will really be the Jessica Lange show so I’m very excited about it. We are designing this amazing new opposite of the Constance character for her. She and I have spoken about different things. She has a lot of ideas, and has a lot of input into her character. She told me some things she has always wanted to play as an actress. She’s a great collaborator and a great friend."
She's not alone! There are three other original cast members coming back, but he's keeping those a secret until Friday. Stay tuned!
As for any other season 2 spoilers, he's also said the series will take place on the East Cost in a mental institution.
