Angelina Jolie Talks Stepping Into ‘Maleficent’ Role: ‘You Have to Have Horns’
Angelina Jolie is ready to be Disney's next villian -- sort of.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the A-Lister opened up about her highly-anticipated film, Maleficent (based on the evil queen from Disney's classic Sleeping Beauty), and explained how we'll get to see a new side of her.
When EW asked if the film was sympathetic to Maleficent or if she would be a "straight-up villain," the 36-year-old mother of six said:
"It’s both. I hope in the end you see a woman who is capable of being many things, and just because she protects herself and is aggressive, it doesn’t mean she can’t have other [warmer] qualities. You have to figure out the puzzle of what she is."
And even though Maleficent is known for her extremely evil ways, she also added:
"It sounds really crazy to say that there will be something that’s good for young girls in this, because it sounds like you’re saying they should be a villain. [Maleficent] is actually a great person. But she’s not perfect. She’s far from perfect."Also, you can bet her six kids are excited to see her take on a Disney role, saying, "My kids are very happy."
