Fifty Shades of Grey, the bestselling erotic novel trilogy by British author E L James, is coming to a silver (or small) screen near you.

Deadline reports that Universal Pictures and Focus Features have already won the rights to the book and plan to bring the steamy series to its legions of female fans, either via a television series of feature film.

Regardless, armchair critics are already casting the key players, including the lead character: 21-year-old college student, Anastasia Steele, who starts a relationship with wealthy entrepreneur, Christian Grey, who leads her into an S&M deal.

Fifty Shades is currently No. 1 on The New York Times digital bestseller list – along with the rest of trilogy, at No. 2 and No. 3. The book will be released in hard copy and paperback form in the U.S. in early April.

The graphic book started as a Twilight fan fiction. Despite the lack of sparkly vampires, Ana is said to be a re-imagined Bella, while her man Christian Grey is a revamped Edward.
