Taylor Swift's ACMs Date Hospitalized
The fan that Taylor Swift invited to the Academy of Country Music Awards has fallen ill. USA Today reports that Kevin McGuire, the cancer-stricken teen who previously asked Swift to the prom, was admitted to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia with a 103-degree fever on Friday.
"I am so sorry to announce this devastating news, but Kevin was admitted to the hospital last night, and is unable to attend the Academy of Country Music Awards with Taylor Swift," McGuire's sister Victoria wrote on his Facebook page. "We appreciate everything you have done for us, and we know you are all hurt from this too."
Earlier this year, T-Swift made headlines when word got out that one of her fans asked her out to his high school prom. The Safe & Sound singer turned down the invite due to scheduling conflicts but proposed an alternative plan.
“Kevin, I’m so sorry but I won’t be able to make it to your prom,” Swift wrote on her Facebook, “But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up.. Would you be my date?”
However, McGuire's health is reportedly too weak after a week of intense chemotherapy and will not be able to recover in time for the trip to Las Vegas where the ACMs are held.
The country cutie, who is also set to take Entertainer of the Year award, tweeted about Kevin's sudden illness. She wrote:
Just talked to Kevin McGuire. He's not well enough to join me at the ACMs. Please keep him in your thoughts. I'll make it up to you, Kevin!
