It's been peaks and valleys so far this year for Katy Perry, as the "California Dreams" singer is in the process of getting divorced but is also at the height of her musical career. Her new documentary hitting theaters in 3D shows all those sides and more, not only addressing her split from Russell Brand but also her strict Christian upbringing.

"The atomosphere I grew up in was 100% Christian," the pop singer, 27, admits. "I started singing in church. I never really had another plan."

An old friend of her adds, "It was not an overnight success."

The documentary follows Katy on tour and will mark "the first-ever big-screen look at the international superstar's life both on and off stage," and shows her at some vulnerable moments. "I was going through some depressing, dark times," Katy confesses. "But it's a journey and I learned so much from it."

The film titled the same as her power ballad is called Part of Me, and has yet to get a theater release date. Will you be watching Katy's journey when it hits theaters, or should she stick to music?
